She turned on the light with her free hand, looking around thoughtfully.

"I'm going to turn on the heat."

 

She nodded, heading up the stairs to put James in his crib.

 

She came back down a few minutes later, entering the kitchen.

 

She frowned and came over to him, her arms crossed.

"What is it?"

 

She frowned, wrapping one arm around his waist.

"Don't be sad."

 

She looked up at him with a frown, her silvery eyes melancholy.

"I love you too."

 

"Why are you so sad? We're back here."

 

She paused before resting her head in the curve of his neck.

"Things will be okay again, right?"

 

She exhaled slightly, taking in his scent.

"I really missed you, Francis."

 

"This'll stop eventually, right?"
