Her thin fingers were slightly red, but they seemed to be otherwise unharmed. "It's okay, really," she said quietly.
He lightly ran his fingers over hers, looking back up. "Alright. Sorry. How's your tea?" he asked, changing the subject.
"Scalding," she said with a cheeky grin. Her hand flipped to take his, and she squeezed lightly. "How about your croissant?"
He glanced down at it before looking back up at her. It was half gone. "Y'know, croissant-y," he replied, raising an eyebrow.
"My creative writing teacher also taught me French and German, so I think they will be fine with my excellent descriptions," he said, his voice posh.
"Ugh," she said, rolling her eyes. "Rich boys." She sent him a smirk across the table. "Another difference."
"Can we agree to break up for real this time?" Poppy asked, a smile playing on the corner of her lips.
She nodded, her face looking completely serious. "Yes," she said with a small sigh. "Yes, as much as I love you, I think it's for the best."
She sighed dramatically. "Well, I certainly don't want you to die. And I do love you terribly. So I suppose we can stay together for a while, at least."
"How long is a while?" he asked, his eyebrows furrowing. "Just know that your answer will be the length of time I have before I die. Just a small warning. No pressure."
A small grin crossed her face, but she shrugged. "A billion years? Does that works for you?" (Just out of curiosity, how would you feel about Poppy and Francis breaking up for a time? I'm okay either way; I don't have an idea in my head, but the thought just occurred to me.)
He nodded. "Yeah, I think that works. That's a good amount of time. Though, I may have to die a little bit before that, not by choice, though." (I'd be pretty interested to see how it goes down, actually! Francis definitely would not be the one to stop things for a bit, as he would be completely broken about it.)
"No dying," she scolded with a raised pointer finger. "That's the whole point of the billion years thing." (I think it'd have to be some kind of misunderstanding, because Poppy's pretty crazy over him, and it'd have to be a big thing for her to even consider breaking up with him. Maybe with Vivienne, or something? Or maybe Evan could come back and mess stuff up?)
(Now I really want to see this happen! I feel like Vivienne would definitely try to get them to break up, but I'm not sure how. Evan could come back, too. I think we'd have to figure out how they'd screw it up?) "Hmm. Alright. I guess I won't die, for now," he said, rolling his eyes. "But only because you said so."
