Poppy's voice was hushed and strained. "Francis... there's a guy at the lab and he has a gun." She took a shaking breath, and he would be able to tell she was crying. "He has a gun and he's been opening fire."
"Shh, shhh..." she hissed, taking a quick breath. "Please, please be quiet. I'm in, uh... I'm in the closet in my office right now, but everything's gone silent right now and I don't..." There was a noise and her breathing quickened. "Oh, God, oh God, I think he's breaking down the office door."
She would hear shuffling on his end and his voice was hushed. "Okay. Find a place to hide right now. I'm on my way."
She clamped her hand to her mouth as the sound of the door splintering filled the room. "I love you," she whispered before hanging up with a click.
The lab was silent when he arrived. Dead bodies were on the floor, but nobody recognizable. He would hear a voice coming from Poppy's office.
