"Which do you want?"
"I don't know. You choose."
"I'll read you a book for tonight."
She nodded, heading to change.
He went to pick out a book.
She came back a few minutes later, looking hopeful.
He found one, sitting on the edge of her bed.
She looked up at him, getting into bed. "I'm ready."
He nodded, opening the book. "Okay."
She looked up at him expectantly.
He started to read Rainbow fish.
She gradually drifted off, leaning up against Francis.
He closed the book before resting her back in bed and tucking her in.
She murmured before shifting in her sleep.
He stood up, heading out.
Poppy was also coming out of James' room, closing the door quietly.
He looked up. "Did he go down okay?"
"Like a log," she said, stretching. "On your end?"
"Yeah. Just had to read a story."
"Good one," she said, coming over to him and slipping her arms over his shoulders.
