She looked nervous, looking down at the eggs. "I can do this," she said, almost to herself. "I can do this."
She took a deep breath, looking back down at the eggs. A bagel popped out of the toaster and she jumped, startled.
She looked over at him nervously. "I can't relax, though. I have to feed Lily every three hours and Diana has to get to kindergarten by noon and then she has her ballet lessons, but Lily can't be out that long, and James needs to get his shots scheduled, and..."
"We're in this together, my love. I can take Diana to school and lessons and schedule the appointments in between, okay? Easy. You can stay here and feed Lily and make sure James doesn't get into trouble."
"It's..." She glanced at the clock on the stove, squinting slightly. "I don't have my contacts in. It's 10:20 right now, and her class begins at 12:00, but you gotta get her there early so she can make her lunch choices."
