She sighed and went straight to the bathroom to fill up a glass. "Ugh. God. Okay. Here goes." She downed two of the pills and chased it down with water.
"It will all be fine," she said quietly. Some time later, she spoke up, her words slurring. "You're very handsome... you know? Very handsome."
He looked at her, raising his eyebrow with a small grin "You think?" he asked, chuckling a bit. "That's very nice of you."
She sat up and took his head in her hands, staring intensely into his eyes. "Sometimes," she began, her brow furrowed. "Sometimes I just look at you. It's normally when I wake up before you, which is always. You always hug me when you sleep, did you know that? I appreciate that. I like hugging you when you sleep." She frowned and tapped his jawline with her finger. "Don't stop doing that."
"Good," she said, nodding emphatically. "Goodgoodgood." She tugged a lock of his hair, and cocked her head. "Have you ever had your hair braided?"
She turned to him sharply and kissed him deeply. "We are doing that right now," she said when she pulled away, standing up and going to the bathroom.
She came back quickly and jumped onto the bed, bouncing slightly as she crawled over to him. "Okay," she said sternly, patting the side of his face. "Stay still, okay? I'm doing very important work."
Her hands were deft and gentle in his hair, her fingers tying the locks over themselves. She sang quietly as she worked, her voice soft and lilting, and occasionally she would reach over and kiss his cheek, stopping her words in her mouth.
Francis just sat quietly, questioning what he got himself into, though it still made him laugh a bit. "Hey, guess what?" he asked softly, a small grin forming on his face as he paused. "I love you."
Her fingers stopped in his hair, and she let go of the strand she was working on, coming around to the front of him to look intensely into his eyes. She rested her hands on his knees and cocked her head. "Really?" she asked, almost exactly the same way she had the first time he had told her in the observatory; hesitant, unsure.
She blinked in surprise before a large grin spread across her face. "Wow!" she exclaimed. She held his head in her hands, her hands warm. "Wow. You love me. You love me. Wow."
