She paused before kissing him again, her hand sliding down to rest on his neck. "You are trying to distract me from braiding your hair," she murmured against his lips. She pulled away with a chiding smile. "It's not going to work."
"Won't it?" he asked, moving his hand up to lightly brush her cheek with his thumb. "Wouldn't you rather do this, though?"
"Kiss you?" She considered it for a moment and kissed him again deeply. "Hm. On one hand, I like kissing you. I really like kissing you. But, that being said, I also really want to braid your hair. And you've established that you like me. So I feel like I could kiss you at any time. Right? Or am I not allowed to kiss you?" Her brow furrowed and she cocked her head.
"You're not allowed to kiss me if you continue to braid my hair," he stated, a sly grin on his face. "How do you feel about that?"
She frowned, clearly debating in her head. Finally, after kissing him once more, she stood up, crossed her arms and walked towards the window in a huff. "I have decided," she said haughtily, "that I will do neither of those things ever again." She turned to him with a raised finger that she waved at him warningly. "No more kisses or braids for you."
He pursed his lips, feigning sadness as he looked to the floor. "You don't want to kiss me anymore?" he asked, his voice melancholy. "I understand.."
She turned her head sharply, paused for a moment, and took a running leap and tackled him onto the bed. "How dare you play on my emotions like that?" she asked quietly, her lips curved in a smirk. "You should know better."
He gasped in surprise, looking up at her with raised eyebrows before continuing the charade. "Well... I'm just disappointed that you don't want to kiss me anymore." He turned away, frowning. "I thought you loved me."
"Francis Craw," she said, shaking her head with mock disappointment. "Of course I want to kiss you." She frowned, clearly in conflict. "But here's the thing. I also really want to braid your hair, and you won't let me do both, despite your claims of affection."
"I'm sorry, but... I can only let you do one," he said slowly, sighing. "I apologize." He looked up her, doing the dreaded puppy eyes.
She groaned, rolling her eyes until eventually she gave him a quick peck on the lips. "I don't see why I'm the one who has to do all the compromising here," she complained. "Now I have to find out something else to do instead of braid your hair."
"Well," he said, smiling at his victory, "what's something you would like to do besides braid my hair?"
"You cannot fly. I'm sorry to break it to you. What else do you want to do?" he asked, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear.
"I think you can do that," he decided slowly, as if thinking for a moment. "Just stand up for a moment, and take a look around the room."
She looked at him for a moment, and then got off the bed and did as he asked, her eyes alight with excitement.
He stood up and walked near the door. "Okay, I need you to close your eyes for exactly four seconds, got it?"
Within the four seconds she counted, he shut off the light, enveloping the room in darkness. He quickly tip-toed to where he stood in front of her, his silhouette barely visible.
