Her arms froze around his waist, and for a long moment, she was silent. When she spoke, her voice was hushed. "Really?"
He was shaking slightly and stuttering, but he continued. "Um, I- I don't have anything to give you right now, and it doesn't half to be official if you don't want it to, but I need to ask." He turned to face her, his expression uncertain. "S-So, will you marry me?"
She watched him with wide eyes, her expression impossible to read. They focused on his gaze, and it seemed as if they contained within them all the clouds of the world. She reached up with one hand and rested it hesitantly on the side of his neck, her thumb rubbing in small circles. She leaned forward and kissed him lightly, until it quickly became deeper, her fingers running through his dark hair. "Yes," she whispered against his lips between kisses, her voice holding a strange sense of relief. "Yes."
He laughed breathily, his expression a mixture of joy and relief. "Oh, good. Good good good," he said quickly, brushing back a lock of her hair.
She laughed lightly, and kissed him again, her fingertips brushing his neck. "And all it took was being captured."
She slipped her arms around his neck and embraced him. He would be able to feel her heart pound against her chest, and she lightly kissed the side of his neck, inhaling deeply. "I would never."
"I love you too," she replied quietly. A nurse walked by the open doorway and frowned. "Mr. Craw!" she chided. "You need to return to your bed."
He jumped at the sound of the nurse's voice. "Right, right." He huffed. "Wouldn't want to get sedated again."
The nurse frowned. "That was necessary," she said. "You seem to have trouble staying where you're told."
"Then don't get injured," she retorted before leaving the room. Poppy smirked at him. "You got in trouble," she sang.
(Raggedy roo) She frowned at him. "It's not my fault I got mauled," she replied. "And it's quite rude to be shoving your walking ability in the face of your injured fiancée."
He smiled slightly as he listened. Reaching for her hand, he looked at her. "I'm sorry, my love. I didn't mean to offend."
"Uh huh," she said. She was obviously toying with him, but she stuck her nose in the air haughtily. "If this is what marriage is going to be like..."
"Oh, be quiet." He chuckled. "You very easily could have said no, but it's too late now. You're stuck with me."
