"I am jealous of my own greatness, yes," she said sarcastically. "Have you met me? I'm pretty great."
"I have met you, and you are pretty great," he admitted, then turned to her with a teasing smile. "But calm down, Miss Narcissism."
She laughed, and the sound seemed to fill the room. Their rescue seemed to make her giddy, and her eyes almost sparkled. "You're going to regret saying that," she said mischievously.
He watched her in awe for a moment, distracted. "Uh.. Right, right. Um..." He paused, leaning back into the pillow. "I love you."
(Gah! They're so cute!) She watched him from her bed, her head tilted as she watched him affectionately. "I love you too, my darling," she said. "More than you know."
"Well, you are it, as far as I'm concerned," she said. "I'll love you as long as you'll have me." (Do you want to do a time skip soon until they're all better?)
"You think that now," she said, squinting over at him. "But wait until you meet my evil side. She's downright diabolical."
"You say that, but I don't know if it's entirely true." He glanced at her. "I get the feeling that you wouldn't be diabolical to me."
