"No," he said, pursing his lips, "but they are fun to find, especially the good ones. Haven't you ever done it?"
"I never really got to go to the beach when I was younger," she said, shrugging. "My childhood vacations were all filled with camping."
"I didn't collect anything," she replied evenly. "You're not supposed to take things from campsites, you know."
"Of course I am," she said as they began to walk down a hill towards the water. "I didn't want to get banned, Francis. Then I wouldn't be able to camp."
"I am perfectly fine with not being cool," she said easily. "I have come to terms with it. There is no doubt in my mind that you're the cool one of this duo."
"You sure know how to make a girl's heart flutter," she said affectionately. "Thank you for recognizing my authority."
She kissed his cheek and they began to walk along the beach, her hand in his. After a couple of minutes, they passed a restroom. "I'm going to go in really quickly, okay? I'll be right back."
She kissed the top of his head, and walked over to the bathrooms, casually checking on her watch as she walked. 15 minutes later, she still hadn't returned.
