He turned and kissed her deeply, before pulling away. "It's late... We should probably go back and get some sleep."
Her cheeks were slightly pink, and she laughed at her self. "Probably," she agreed. She stood up and extended a hand to him, pulling the sheet over her shoulder.
He took it, opening the door for her. "I'm sorry for accidentally hurting you. I didn't mean to push you."
"I know, my darling," she said, stepping through the door and taking his hand. "It wasn't really your fault anyway. It was this damn bite mark." She frowned. "It wouldn't have really hurt if I hadn't been recently mauled." (lol)
"Excuse you. Not everyone can get by strangling those creatures to death. Some of us have to hide instead. And some of us aren't very good at hiding."
"Well, I must admit they got my arms once or twice, but that was more towards the beginning," he said, looking at his arms, which had some bandaging on them.
She shuddered involuntarily, remembering the dark hallway, and she moved closer to him. "God. That was awful."
They got to their room, and Poppy turned to look at him. "So much has changed all of the sudden," she said softly.
She wrinkled her nose where he kissed her. "A very good thing," she agreed. "But still, the fact remains: I'm your fiancée."
She took his face in her hands, holding him as if she couldn't quite believe it. "We're going to get married at some point," she said slowly, as if checking with him for accuracy. "That's going to happen."
He nodded. "Yes, that is going to happen." He paused, smiling. "Are you just now realizing that we're going to have a life together? Like, in the same house every day, and kids one day and stuff?"
She rested her forehead against his, her eyes watching him lovingly. "We're going to live in the same house," she repeated, her hand resting on his jaw. "We're going to have kids one day."
She grinned up at him, her fingers grazing his jaw. "That's crazy," she agreed. "I just agreed to a life with you."
