(Probably not yet. He's kinda a butt.) "Oh, it's not that bad! It'll be fine, okay?" He kissed her forehead reassuringly.
(Chill, chill) "Did that help you when I told you that?" she asked wryly, closing her eyes when he kissed her head.
"Yes, it did. They're not as bad as I'm taking them seem, I promise." He took her hand. "They're good people."
She stepped in and squeezed his hand. "Okay," she said quietly, a small grin crossing her face. "I'm trusting you."
"Oh, I see," she said, following him. "Maybe that's a good thing." She paused for a moment before turning to look at him. "Do you need to call them or anything? To let them know?"
"I'm going to, but I honestly doubt they'll be busy. Most of the things they like to do, they can do at the house."
"Can you tell me any more about them?" she asked curiously, slipping her hand into his. "What are their names?" (Old timer!!)
"My mother's name is Elizabeth and and my father's name is Callum," he replied simply. "My mother is a lot more open than my father."
"Elizabeth and Callum," she said thoughtfully. "Miles and Francis. Okay. Okay." She put her hands to her face and laughed deeply. "God. I'm being an idiot, aren't I?"
"But you met my family before we were engaged," she said, peering at him from behind her hands with a cocky smile. "This makes it, like, 500 times scarier."
"We don't have to tell them. I'm a bit scared to, myself." He shrugged, taking both of her hands. "It'll be fine, though."
"It will all be fine," she agreed. She hesitated before continuing. "We should probably tell them, though," she said, biting her lip. "I mean, honesty is the best route and all that." She paused and then laughed nervously. "Unless, of course, they end up hating me, in which case we just elope or something. Does that work for you?"
"We're not lying, just not telling them the news. And they won't hate you. I won't let them." He laughed. "Eloping isn't a great idea, to be honest."
She sighed, but it was in good humour, and her eyes twinkled. "Damn," she said, shaking her head with mock regret. "It's a shame that you want your family to be on good terms with us."
She turned her head up to kiss him quickly. "You should call them," she said quietly when she pulled away. "Parents or no, people don't like to be unprepared."
