"Yeah, I know. I'll do it later, though. They're most likely to answer the call in the evening," he replied, recalling his time when he was younger.
"Okay," she said agreeably, slipping her hand into his. "So, what would you like to do in the mean time?"
"Hm," she said thoughtfully, tilting her head. "Oh! Want to go to the library? They have a viola in the back there that I've been wanting to try."
"Sure, that sounds nice. I don't know if I'll play today, though," he decided. "Unless you want me to."
"It's up to you," she said, grinning cheekily up at him. "I scared you off from last time, didn't I?"
"No, not at all. I just don't feel it today, that's all," he said, looking down at her with an affectionate smile.
"That's what they all say," she said with mock arrogance, looking back up at him and grinning, her eyes crinkling with love. She squeezed his hand as they passed through the doorway of the library, and shrugged. "I guess they can't handle it."
She kissed the top of his head as she passed, squeezing his hand until she had to let go. Her ring shifted as her fingers slipped out of his grip, and she smiled at him lightly. "I'll be back," she said, pointing her thumb over her shoulder. "I gotta go grab it really quickly."
"Really? I thought it was in your pocket," he said sarcastically, but kissed her hand before she let go.
"Ah," she said sarcastically. "There's the man I love. I'll be right back." She turned quickly and walked to the back of the room, her hands held behind her back as she disappeared into the storage room.
He sighed, watching her go. His eyes were full of adoration as he rested his head on his hand. "Love you..." he mumbled, fully knowing that she couldn't hear him.
(GOD DAMN THEY'RE CUTE) She returned 10 minutes later, her hair astray and a smear of dust across her forehead. She hurried towards him, grinning sheepishly and holding the viola case in her arms. "Hey," she said, sitting down next to him. "I'm back."
She sighed, kissing his cheek. "No, actually," she said, pulling away. "Hard to reach. I almost knocked over three tubas in my attempt to get this off the shelf."
"You know you could have asked for help, right? Knocking over tubas is a serious offense," he said with a smile, his tone feigned frustration.
"Illegal, yes," she said, nodding with utmost seriousness. "But I'm a tough girl. I put my clothes on by myself this morning and everything."
(FRANCIS, FOR SHAME) Her blush was immediate, and she cocked her head. "I'm able to put on my own clothing, Francis," she said, squinting at him.
