She frowned at him before kissing him lightly. "It's a shame I like you so much," she said casually. "I have to keep you around."
She grinned at him lovingly before leaning in to lightly kiss his nose. "Damn straight," she agreed, pulling away to unpack the viola.
"Mm, I love you too," she murmured, the viola making slight plucking noises as she lifted it from its case.
She brushed his hair off his forehead idly with one hand while bringing the instrument up to her chin with the other. She tuned the instrument with meticulous fingers, frowning when the pegs didn't stick.
He shut his eyes, just enjoying the moment. He was silent, aside from a murmur he made from the back of his throat.
She bit her lip as she struggled with the C string, finally forcing the peg into place. The string rang in the room as she played it, its tone rich and deep. "I haven't played viola in a while," she said, pulling her hair back to study the instrument more carefully. "I should get better about that."
She kissed his temple, her hair lightly brushing his face. "I like bassoon boys," she teased. "Why'd you stop?"
"I didn't like it as much over time," he admitted, opening his eyes to look at her. "Wasn't feeling it."
"But Francis, the bassoon is the only instrument in the woodwinds that's worth playing!" she said with mock exasperation. "And you chose to stay with saxophone..." She shook her head, teasing him. "For shame."
"Hmph. Why don't you just go back to playing the viola, hm?" he joked. "Quit mocking my instrument choice."
Her fingers deftly plucked the strings as she leaned forward to kiss him. "Don't worry," she said good naturedly. "I suppose I could love a saxophonist."
"Pianists are cute," she said agreeably. She grinned at him, raising one eyebrow. "And you're cute. So I think I could make an exception."
