Her hands came up to brush against the back of his neck, and her mouth fit perfectly to his. She pulled away eventually, and rested her forehead against his. "Hm," she murmured. "I'll allow it, then."
"Good, good," he said, then went to lay on his back, putting his arms behind his head as he watched the sky.
She watched him for a moment, her knees pulled up to her chest, and her head turned to look at him. Her hair was almost red in the sunlight, and she stretched out next to him, lying on her back in the vivid green grass. "So, what's your apartment like?" she asked.
He looked at her, turning on his side. "Mm. Minimalistic would be a good word to describe it. There's some papers here and there, and then Finn."
He rested his head on her shoulder, sighing. "He may not be able to defend well, but at least he doesn't made noise."
She turned to kiss the top of his head. "Tom doesn't make noise," she said, and the dog's ears perked up at the sound of his name. "He only growls if he needs instructions."
(This scene is so cute to me, and I don't even know why.) "He also would swim away at the first sign of danger," she pointed out. "And he needs you to defend him. Tom could totally take care of himself."
(I know, haha. Makes my heart flutter kinda) "I don't need to defend Finn," he said. "Nobody would attack him."
"Finn will have to defend his own honor. Besides, whoever is attacking a fish should probably be the one with the questioned honor."
She kissed the side of his head, laughing as she did so. "You're the one with the questionable honor," she said. "Your fiancée leaves you, and the first thing you do is buy a fish."
She kissed his forehead softly. "No, I suppose I'm not," she said evenly. "After all, it was my fault."
She turned her head slightly to meet his eyes. Her curls were sprawled out underneath her, and she frowned, "It kinda was, though," she said quietly. She reached up and put a hand on his face. "I just... left."
She wrapped her arms around his neck instinctually as he kissed her. "Okay," she mumbled against his lips. "I'll trust you."
