He bent down to look, his eyes widening slightly. "You know," he murmured. "Venus is the goddess of beauty, right?" He stood straight. "I think she would dull in comparison to you."
She squinted at him. "I hate you," she said decisively, stepping forward and taking his hands. "We need to break up."
She frowned at him. "When are you going to start working on the best line?" she asked cockily, feigning innocence.
"It was five grown men against myself and Tom," she said, frowning at him. "We're lucky I'm still standing here.
She cocked her head and leaned forward to kiss him. "Don't worry, my darling," she said quietly. "I'm a badass, remember? It would take a lot more that five guys to hurt me."
She paused. She didn't want to reassure him that she would be fine no matter what; her line of work was dangerous, and someday she might not win. She met his gaze and kissed him lightly. "Then I'll figure out a way out of it," she said reasonably.
"Well, you'd come and beat them up anyways," she said, holding his face in her hands. "So no one's going to even try to mess with me."
