She grinned at him, and peered into the scope, trying to find it. "Did you ever play the Planets? Holst?" She found it and then stepped away to let Francis see. "Probably not; I don't think there's a piano part or a saxophone part."
"Jupiter is a good one," she said, rubbing his back idly as he looked through the scope. "It suits you, actually."
"Mm," she said thoughtfully. Her head was tilted back to look up at the sky, and she hadn't noticed that he was looking at her. Her hand stayed on his back, drawing small circles along his spine. "There's that part in the beginning that's very grand and everything is shimmering and you're kinda waiting for something to happen. It's... I don't know.. It's very noble. Very regal. Pretty intimidating, too." She looked down at him and noticed that he was looking at her and gave him a smile. "But then," she continued, "there's also that part in the middle where it's loving and warm. It doesn't have any false walls, or appearances. It's just... hopeful, you know? Innocent." She shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe I'm just being silly."
"I don't think it's silly," he said kindly, standing up straight. "I think you're very intuitive and smart. Like, you see and understand things in a way nobody else does." He turned to her. "It's amazing."
She watched him for a moment. It had grown quite late outside the observatory, and very few people were around. She stepped forward and slid her arms around his ribs. "God, I love you," she said quietly, her head on his chest.
"No, but like..." She trailed off, trying to put it into words. "Like... I don't know. I feel like I'm less when you're not around. You're talented. You're funny. You're deadly smart. You're always so good to me, even when I don't deserve it. You're just.." She looked up at him and kissed his jawline lightly. "It's you. It's always been you, and it's always going to be you."
He gazed at her lovingly, before speaking up, his voice low. "Would you wear the ring again if I asked?"
She paused for a moment and then grinned. "Well," she said quietly, kissing him softly. "You know what they say." She kissed him again, and he would be able to feel the smile on her face. "Third time's the charm."
