He pulled away. "I'm going to go make a phone call real quick, and then I'll spend the rest of the day with you, okay?"
"Sounds like a plan," she said, squeezing his upper arm before pulling away. She returned to the hospital bed and sat down on the edge, swinging her legs slightly. "But wait, are you allowed to do that? Don't you have to go back to work?"
"Oh, okay," she said, nodding. "Don't worry if you have to go back, though. I can just walk home or take a taxi or something."
He took her hand, concern in his eyes. "Yeah. I don't think I'll be able to make it at lunch tomorrow, though."
"That's fine," she said, waving off his concern. "I'm just glad you're here at all. Thank you for staying with me."
