She gave him a teasing smile before looking back down at her food. Sensing a possible awkward silence, she cleared her throat. "Ahem. So, Miles, are you in business as well?"
"I see," she said, raising one eyebrow. It was interesting to see Francis' mannerisms reflected in his brother; the arm crossing reminded her so distinctly of him.
She gave a small laugh, her nose crinkling with the action. "At this point," she replied easily, "I barely know myself. I mostly do ambassador work right now - trying to form alliances with various countries and cities on behalf of Averlin, and all that. But my official profession is in medicine, so I get to spend a lot of time in the lab."
"It didn't matter to me either way," he said. "Might as well take up the business." Francis tilted his head. "Would you like to go to the town today, Poppy?"
She met his gaze with an adoring smile before looking down at her lap self-consciously. "So, what's in town?"
"A bunch of shops and stuff," he said. "It's quite nice." "There's also an interesting forest trail," Miles added. "We used to go there a lot."
