"Ruin indicates no reconciliation," she replied, kissing him lightly. "They weren't able to separate us completely."
"That's true." She paused before laughing, shaking her head. "God. Our lives sound like soap operas."
"That's probably it. I am a little hurt that I haven't received my check yet, though. I mean, starring in a soap opera that you didn't know you were in is tiring work."
"Oh, definitely. We need to hire a lawyer." Her shoulders shook when she laughed and she kissed his jaw. "I think we'll win."
"Will we be bored once the excitement is gone, though?" she asked. "Maybe the end of the show will be the end of our relationship."
Poppy settled her head back on his shoulder, her eyes skimming the words in her own book thoughtfully. Her free hand cupped the back of his neck, her fingers brushing through his hair idly.
