Giving a quick wave and another word of thanks, she followed him out the door, hand in hand with him.
"They just.. don't understand things sometimes," he said, pinching the bridge of his nose. "It's frustrating."
They were quiet for a few minutes as they drove down the street before Poppy spoke up. "You should pull over."
"Because I really want to hug you, and I can't safely do that while you're driving," she said, looking at him intently as the rain pattered against their ceiling.
She sighed, unable to deny her request. He flicked on his blinker and checked for the other cars before pulling off to he side, stopping the car.
She unbuckled her seatbelt and crawled over to his side, sliding onto his lap so she could look at him face-to-face. She wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her head on his shoulder, her frame small but sure with his. Her face was turned into his neck, and the tip of her nose was a little cold, but it warmed up quickly against his skin. "I know that was frustrating," she said quietly in his ear, "and I know you were upset, and I know it was hard. But please know that I love you, okay? No matter who tries to distract from that, that love will never waver."
His hand gently rubbed her back as he sighed. "I don't know what I would do without you," he said softly. "God.. I love you so much."
"I love you too, Craw," she said, not pulling away from him, her fingers brushing through his hair lovingly. "No matter how much of an ass your brother is. I love you, I love you, I love you."
She didn't say much else after that. She held him tightly, occasionally turning to kiss his temple. Her heartbeat was strong under her skin and eventually, she sighed. "We should probably drive, yeah?"
"Okay," she said with a nod. "Okay." She gave him one last lingering kiss, her fingers brushing his neck before returning to her seat. "Just so you know," she said, her tone a little brighter. "I think you're waaaay more handsome than your brother. I'm not even biased."
