"Yeah," she said tiredly. "It's me." She had a large cut on her cheek that was bruising around the edges. "I'm so sorry I'm late. Did you sleep well?"
He went over to her, his steps quick. When he got to her, he looked closely at her cheek. "What happened?" he asked, his voice stern.
She looked down at the ground, feeling slightly chastised. "Just a little fight," she said. "I'm okay, though. Everything's fine."
She relaxed in his arms and wrapped her own around his torso. "I'm okay," she said quietly, feeling the warmth spread through her body. "Those bastards broke my phone, though."
She laughed and kissed him, although her eyes looked tired. "Here. I'll do it. Don't worry. Although, if you care to watch I can show you how for future reference."
"Don't worry, my darling," she said, brushing his jaw with her hand before heading to the restroom to clean the wound. "It was a silly thought on my part anyway."
She opened the medicine cabinet and pulled out a couple cleaning agents. "It was my own fault," she said. "I was coming out from the hardware store and there were five of them waiting for me. Somewhere in my subconscious I just assumed that Tom was with me, so I got backed into a corner. It was..." She paused and moved on. "It could have been worse, though. This cut was actually aimed for my neck."
"No, Craw," she said, kissing his cheek. "Please don't apologize. I wanted you to stay and sleep. I'm okay. Believe me."
