The small box contained two small cufflinks, nestled into the pillow. There was an F and a C engraved into the silver metal, and tiny leaves were at just into them. "I couldn't decide between silver or gold," she began hastily, "but most of your suits are black, so I figured silver probably matched more."
She cocked her head. "One of them kind of needs to be explained, and the other is more personal," she said. "Which one would you like first?"
She grinned and stood up. "Okay. I'll be right back." She went into the bedroom and he would hear her go into the closet. She came out holding a fishbowl to her chest. Inside were colorful fishes darting around, obviously panicked that their home was shaking. Poppy moved as gently as she could, and she set them on the table. There were quite a few of them, and she sat down next to him. "Okay, so a couple of things," she said, folding her hands. "One is that I know it's risky to give someone pets for a gift. That's why I'm prepared to take care of them if you don't think you want to. That's okay."
She grinned, looking down at them. "Yes. Even though it hurts my heart to buy them, little Finns. But they actually aren't the main gift here. The gift is actually an aquarium. It's pretty large, and it can hold both saltwater and freshwater in the same tank. Something with the water I guess. I didn't set it up, though because I didn't know if you'd want it in your apartment or if you'd even want it. But I have it. Also, I didn't know if Finn was aggressive, but these ones aren't, so worst case scenario, Finn eats them all."
He smiled, taking the fish from her to gently set them on the table. "Only teasing. He wouldn't eat them, though."
She sighed and rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "Hmph. Fine. As much as I hate my home being a refuse for fish, I suppose I'll do it."
