She dimpled and kissed him, stepping closer to him. "I love you too," she murmured. "There's one more gift, but it's kind of weird."
She grinned and kissed him once more before pulling away and grabbing the gift from the couch. She hesitated, her fingers skimming the surface before she handed it to him.
Inside the wrapping was a warm, wooden box. The wood was veneered and the sides were deceivingly simple, with small carved vines crawling up the sides. However, on the front were tiny holes, methodically scattered over the top. A triangle pointed to one in the top left corner, but other than that they were all symmetrical. There was a small circle indent surrounding each one. In the corner were tiny carved ferns, impossibly detailed, and there was carved script around the edges. "I look at you and I see the rest of my life in front of my eyes."
There came a click from inside the box as he swept his hand over the surface, and every hole he touched suddenly had a small crystal that rose to the surface, twinkling in the early morning light. Poppy rested her head on her hand and grinned, watching him carefully.
She watched his fingers for a moment before her gaze flickered up to his and she grinned. "I don't make my puzzles easy."
She stretched slightly, rubbing the back of her neck. "I'm going to go take a shower, okay? I'll be back."
