"Sure you did," she said, raising an eyebrow. She adopted a low voice, trying to mimic his smooth tone. "Hey, Poppy. You look stunning in that dress. Hey, Poppy. I swear you're the only one worth talking to around here. Hey, Poppy. I wouldn't mind if you came up to the observatory with me." She grinned at him cheekily. "Wink, wink."
"Of course not," she replied, kissing his cheek. "But you have to admit that you've been flirty from the very beginning."
She shrugged. "I think I warmed to you faster than you warmed to me, though," she said thoughtfully. "It took a while for you to care about me."
"You told me that you only worried because I was your medic, and there weren't many in our destroyed government that could be used to replace me."
He cocked his head. "You didn't even consider that I was worried because you were my friend and I cared about you?"
"And I know you like me now," she said before pausing. She nudged him slightly, a teasing grin on her face. "Right?"
