“Thanks, baby,” she said, placing them in her lap. She popped one in her mouth, and chewed thoughtfully. “Craw, you remember the time in the woods, right?”
She smiled slightly, keeping her eyes on the road. “I remember thinking how strange of an inclination was. I couldn’t figure out the motive behind it. I could have walked.”
She beamed, tucking a loose lock of hair behind her ear. “Is it ridiculous that that makes me happy?”
“You liked me,” she told him, drumming on the steering wheel, her engagement ring catching the light on her slender finger. “You were fond of me. You worried about me.”
