"Thank you," she said, giving him a kiss on the cheek before pulling open the door and closing it behind her.
Poppy didn't return and it would take Francis a few moments to notice a familiar, empty, blue bottle on the table.
The view from the roof overlooked the entire city underneath the crisp blue sky. Poppy stood at the edge, her hair contrasting with the clouds on the horizon. She looked down at the ground, hundreds of feet below and she lifted one foot hesitantly, letting it hang in the air.
"Poppy, why didn't you tell me about the medication? You really could have been hurt.." He tried to sound scolding, but it was mostly worry.
She hugged him back, her hands rubbing his back, although he would be able to tell that her mind was elsewhere, still confused. "So... I'm not jumping?"
She squeezed his hand as they headed towards the door, but she looked back regretfully. "You sure I shouldn't...?"
She sighed sadly as they reentered the building. "Francis, it would be fun," she said, tugging on his hand.
