She paused before exhaling a sigh of relief, tipping her head back to look at him. “Never mind. What...” She hesitated when she saw his expression. “What’s wrong?”
She frowned, the space between her brow dimpling. “Please don’t apologize,” she said, her head cocking. “Please.”
She sighed and rested her forehead against his, her fingers brushing his jaw. “It’s not you. It’s not you. Okay? I promise.”

"There's a reason I didn't tell you about that," she said, shaking her head. She rolled a button on his shirt between the tips of her thumb and pointer thoughtfully, frowning as she spoke. "It really doesn't mean anything and I knew it would just hurt you."
