She grinned at him from across the room. "But that's what makes it so exhilarating," she said cheekily. They went through a cloud, and the whole room was surrounded by a dense fog that matched Poppy's eyes exactly. She looked around excitedly. "I wonder what it's like up here at night," she mused. "Everything must look so clear."
"Hmm," she mused, drumming her fingers on the ground. "Do you know if we get to the colonies this evening or if we get there tomorrow? Because if it's tomorrow, I'm definitely going to sneak in here tonight."
"I have no idea. They didn't specify, so I guess we'll have to find out later." He cracked his knuckles, then felt the bruise. "This morning was unpleasant."
"I still don't really know how you did it," she said, frowning. "You fell out of bed and got that big of a bruise?"
She laughed deeply, looking up at the ceiling. "And to think, if I had stayed a couple of minutes later, I could have seen it!"
She frowned slightly. Growing up, she had relied on her intuition to tell her what exactly her quiet, contemplative father was thinking at any given time. She could tell that something was amiss, but she didn't say anything further on the matter. "So, we're going to be negotiating with nations," she said eventually. "We've become ambassadors!"
"I won't try to kill anyone, and neither will you. It won't be tolerated," he said sternly, crossing his arms.
"What if they give me their gun? Then can I try to kill them? I mean, they're kinda asking for it, don't you think?" she asked with a smirk, leaning her head back against the wall.
"I feel like you don't understand what an ambassador is supposed to do," she said. "An ambassador's job description clearly states that you need to shoot anyone who tries to save you."
She scoffed, but there was a smile in her voice. "I feel like we've been over this," she said. "You seem very determined to get me to admit that I care about you."
"I would never go so low as to forcing you to admit you like me. I'm not that shallow. I'm just suggesting things, that's all."
"In hopes that I'll just admit it on my own?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. "I'm afraid you'd have to wait quite a while for that."
(Oops, I thought I posted.) He lifted his shoulders, readjusting his position. "Alright, but don't be sad when I reject you."
(No problem. I went and had dinner anyways. ) "Oh, trust me, I will be just fine," she said, rubbing the back of her neck. "I'm not too worried about that." (Do you want them to spend one more night on the plane, or should they be landing pretty soon? I'm fine either way.)
(Spend one more night, maybe, to fulfill Poppy's hopes of going to the observatory at night.) "What makes you say that?"
