She laughed, remembering the night's previous events. "He really is. In fact, the thing that woke me up was this 'thud' and some scratches outside my door, and when I looked outside, you said you were watching the walls move. I thought you were drunk for a moment."
"That sounds pretty similar to Drunk Francis, to be honest, so let's hope I never drink that much with you," he said, smiling nervously.
She shrugged smoothly and folded her hands together on the table. "At least I'll have practice dealing with it," she said eventually, flashing him a small smile.
"Oh, no. When I'm drunk it gets much worse. Much worse and I like to get intimate." He shook his head. "It's not good."
Poppy cocked her head and considered him for a moment, her lips pursed slightly. "I suppose I could see that," she said thoughtfully. "I'm trying to imagine it, but it's kinda difficult to visualize."
"That might be a good thing. It's quite embarrassing," he said, thinking back at the all the times he had decided to drink a bit too much. "It would be bad."
Poppy considered this with a tilted head before she shrugged. "I feel like you're being too critical of yourself," she said. "But I've only been drunk once, and I hated it, so maybe that's just the lack of practical experience talking."
"As hard as I could try, I don't think I could visualize you drunk. It's impossible," he laughed. "It's just too unlike you to think of."
"My friend told me that I get very.. how did she put it? Spontaneous. Like, I guess I kept suggesting that we went to random places in the middle of the night." She considered this for a moment before shrugging. "I don't know. It made my head fuzzy, and it hurt the morning afterward, and it just felt gross. I don't really see the value in that."
"That's understandable. First time sucks." He rested his head on his hand. "I would assume you're not going to drink again, but it get better. Slowly, but eventually."
He pointed to himself innocently. "Me? Never. I'm just telling you what it's like to drink alcohol more than once, that's all."
(Ah! Sorry, my phone bugged out.) "Uh huh," she said, raising an eyebrow at him. "I'm sure that's what it is. You certainly weren't searching for a drinking partner."
"Of course not. I have plenty of other people to call and drink with, who don't mind it." His hands moved with his words, as if they were the ones talking.
"That almost sounded like you think I'm lying. I only lie in desperate situations or when it leads to a better outcome, obviously. I am telling the complete truth."
"The better outcome here is that you look cooler, obviously," Poppy said sardonically, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
