She gave him a smile as the waiter returned with a couple plates. "French omelet for you," he said, setting the plate down in front of Poppy. "And chocolate chip pancakes for you. Would you like whipped cream?"
The waiter hurried away to attend to the other guests and Poppy studied him intently. "You're very different, you know," she said thoughtfully.
"When I first met you," she said, holding her tea in her hands, "I thought you were really cold and stern. But I couldn't have been more wrong."
He smiled warmly at her. "Maybe I changed for the better because of you. I suppose we'll never know."
