Her heart was pounding like a caged bird, but he'd be able to hear the smile in her voice as she pulled him closer. "Barely."
Her hair tickled his skin and she unbuckled her seatbelt to adjust her position, her fingers brushing the back of his neck. "I love you," she murmured in his ear, almost too quiet to hear.
Her eyes were wide as she studied him intently, everything from the tip of his nose to his warm brown eyes before she gave him a small smile, pulling him up to kiss him.
He grinned, brushing back her hair before pulling away slightly, a small flush on his face. "Ah.. We should get going."
"Should we?" she asked languidly, sitting up with a small flush on her cheeks. "I was having a nice time."
Her flush deepened and she cleared her throat before starting up the car, running a hand through her hair. "Right. Well. Yes."
They pulled back onto the road and she cleared her throat again, trying to regain her composure. "Ahem. Anyway. I shouldn't have to stay at the lab for too long."
