He looked at her, head tilted slightly. "Should I? I have too many things to wish for to pick one," he said, turning back. "Alright, I think of something."
"It's in the rules," she said, tucking a loose curl behind her ear. "To not wish on a shooting star is some sort of sin, I'm sure."
"A sin to not wish on a shooting star? Oh dear. I'm afraid I've sinned more times than I can count," he said, his expression feigning sadness and disappointment.
She nudged him playfully. "This one can make up for it, I'm sure. As long as it's a good wish. No pressure or anything."
"How am I supposed to know if it's good? I can't even tell you what it is." He readjusted the blanket.
She considered his question, her head cocked ever so slightly. "Well," she said, biting her lip. "What do you want most right now? Wish for that."
He looked back up at the sky in thought. "I wish that everything turns out alright. No more problems," he thought to himself, then glanced at Poppy. "Everything will be alright."
"I believe so. I think you would approve," he said, leaning back. He was silent now, only looking at the clouds below and the stars above.
Poppy sighed after a while, her head nodding slightly. "I'm not going to fall asleep again," she said to him sleepily. "So if it looks like I'm about to, you need to poke me or something. I'm determined this time."
She sighed, giving him a look. "Well, then we're both doomed," she said, raising an eyebrow. "If you go, then I'll follow eventually, and then we'll both be victims of drowsiness."
"Hmm," she said warmly. She gazed up at the sky, the moonlight hitting her face as she studied the stars once again. "It's up to you. I don't mind either way."
"I'd rather stay out here," he said, then looked at, watching for a moment. "There's.. something I want to say."
Poppy paused for a moment, and then turned to him, her expression concerned. "Is everything alright?" she asked uncertainly.
He nodded, a smile hinting at his mouth. "Yeah, everything's fine, but there's something that I've realized over time about you."
