I think perhaps a good compromise might be to filter the RPs down to three or four universes, with different rules for each. For example, in some RP's, overpowered characters are the rule rather than the exception. I rather like the "Can you top this" feeling that so many OP ponies gives to the RPs. Others prefer that characters remain balanced, and absolutely despise OP-ness. Again, this kind of RP has it's place. Still others prefer that their RPs remain as close to canon as possible, and take great pains to make sure that they stay show-accurate.
Again, for something of this calibre you need to start small, I suggest 2 or 3 RPs, using the EPRP system. Then a 3rd/4th RP to make them overlap, maybe there was an evil mastermind who was pulling the strings behind all three.
To be honest, I'm more interested in a shared universe, I LOVE continuity. But every shared MLP RPverse (that I've found) makes the RP so canon oriented, that they restrict any adventure from happening, and restrict a lot of imagination for the creation of characters. Since most of the RPs here are already adventure-oriented. It would come as no surprise that the shared universe would be too.
I like it, were you thinking of jet-li's the one? It's a movie where there are several universes that are in seperate dimensions, each with their own version of jet-li. Maybe we could have a campaign like that, where there is an alternate version of everypony in each alternate universe. - - Auto Merge - - Yeah I'm interested! Doing the same thing!!!! Plus this sounds like a good idea, although I would keep my Universal Borders closed. (Calls Trump, makes him build a wall around my borders) I prefer to keep my characters away from some of these ideas, Sentient Crystals controlling Fundamental Forces, um yeah bad idea, that can cause issues if said crystal decides, 'hmmm, Ponies are no longer needed, bye". I mean other than that, sounds cool, but obvious issues arrise. Then the Universes where OPness is hunted down and destroyed before it lays eggs mentality exists, that causes issue as well, say a Natural Disaster occurs, everypony dies because there is no one to help protect them. I mean the Unicorns can only do so much, Pegasi can fly fast, but can they stop an F5 or theoretical F6 tornado spawning cell? Not likely. Earth ponies can rework Earth but they can't survive intense heat and pressure for long, so them stopping Volcanic activities isn't very likely. In all of thse situations there would constitute a need for Powerful Beings to help protect the Ponies. Most of this is my opinions but some of the issues seem valid.
Well, the site's been going for, what, four or five years now? It seems to me that this was never something we needed. Still isn't.
Well. It has its perks and its disadvantages. But yeah other than its few advantages, I completely agree with Ridley on this one.
