Yay for Poetic's sensible thought. Enough with using the most stupid reasons as scapegoat to blame Hasbro. We get changes to the show we beg for, we get mad. We want things to change, and get mad when they don't. Stahp #minirant It's for continuity, and shows that Cadance is practically a sister-figure to Twilight and is filled with adorableness.
Well I know how you feel, there are some cringeworthy moments in the show, here and there. I don't feel that they need to do it every time they see each other, but if they haven't seen each other in awhile and the situation is casual and upbeat then why not? I think it's cute, it's their thing.
It's kind of annoying, but this is a show for little girls. So I can't expect it to cater to all my wants.
I honestly don't see how you could find this annoying... it lasts 10 seconds and represents their bond to each other.
I just thought it was being over-used is all. I'm not being cynical or nitpicky here, I swear It would be like if Pinkie Pie made her sad-adorable-pouty-face from "A Friend In Deed" in every episode she was in. Yes, it's cute, but it would feel over-done and you know all know it.

It wasn't until "Games Ponies Play" that I officially decided it was being used too much.
But there is a slight difference between Pinky and Cadence however. Pinky is one of the Mane Six, who will show up in 95% if not all of the episodes. In Pinkies case if that happened, we would see it EVERY episode. Cadence has been involved in only five episodes. The Two Part Season Finale of Season 2, The Two part opener of Season 3 and the most recent episode. The handshake only showed up in four of those: During Twilight's flashback of Cadence being her foal sitter, when Twilight found the actual Princess Cadence in the crystal prison, when she greeted her when they went to the Crystal Empire the first time, and in the last episode. Simply put: Pinky doing something every time we see her means SEEING IT EVERY EPISODE, thus over killing it. Cadence doesn't show up that frequently, so its not exactly the same.
Your logic is sound, but I'm still hoping they refrain from using it in future episodes. Call it a matter of personal preference. Pinkie Pie bursts into song all the time but at least it's a different song every time. She delivers variety, and that's great, because if she comes up with a particular song that I don't care for (which is rare), there's a very low chance that I'll ever hear it again in future episodes. The only times I can remember her repeating herself are in the episodes "Bridal Gossip" (Evil Enchantress) and "Over a Barrel" (Ya Gotta Share), and in both episodes, the song in question was never repeated in it's entirety.
Actually you missed one, Twilight did it when she met the imposter Cadence for the first time, although Cadence/Chrysalis did not reciprocate. So I guess it only counts for half lol.
In the finale, Twilight and Cadence managed to have an interaction not preceded by the ladybug greeting! This is progress.
Yeah it's getting annoying, it's a waste of airtime. A joke should not be repeated so much... Unless you are a show like Phineas and Ferb that is all about repeating jokes. Yes... Yes it is.
It is nice that Twi and Cadence have a greeting for eachother, though I guess it was slightly surprising it was used the third time.
Yeah that does make sense alot of sense besides that would be embarrassing to do it in front of a bunch of strangers on a big important day.
