"Come at me Bro" = suggests fighting.

Just do it! Unless you've been beat up before, no one will really care. You might get some verbal abuse (things like *squee!*got), but i doubt anyone would take any physical action. And at my school, i wore it and inspired two others to, which was sorta awesome :p

so id say go for it! you never know who might be a closet brony, and this is a great way to find out

I'm actually in the same situation. And the problem is that there are no real steps taken against bullies here. If someone if pushing you around or attacks you however you are allowed to act in self defence but there have to be witnesses. I want to be open but...I'm not so sure, I hate fighting and I'm not the manliest guy in my school. I'm pretty lean because of the endurance swimming I do. Which means I probably won't last long against some of the guys, however I do have friends that will stick up for me. i'm still not so sure I want to be open about it.

There are no t-shirts available here anyway so I will have to make my own.

All you guys talk about getting beat up and stuff, but it all seems so foreign to me. Do i live in a really sheltered community? :dunno: cuz that kind of stuff would never happen here. I'm literally the definition of lanky, i dont have any friends that would stick up for me in a fight, and the clothes i wear practically scream beat the *squee* out of me, and yet ive never even been so much as shoved because of how i look. We dont have a particularly strict school, just no one here really cares...

And as for the lack of shirts, id advise the internet. Redbubble and Welovefine have some really sick ones. And they have one for like every pony thats ever appeared in the show ever.

I'll just say that it's a joke about LAX or something all the guys play. They have all this crazy slang (spoonin' rocks) for sports they play.

I bought a DJ Pon-3 shirt a week ago. I rode my bike to work with it on the other day. It was cold enough for a jacket on the way there, but on the way home it was to hot for a jacket, so thats how I first wore my pony merch in public lol.

I told my mom and she seemed a little upset but accepting as long as I don't "get too obsessed with it". I brought up the fact that's she's told me that if I ever wanted to get a sex change or come out of the closet or something (I'm not actually going to do any of those things) she would support me and that this is particularly small compared to that. As for my friends what I do is test out what their reaction is going to be by mentioning bronies as if I'm not one like "So have you been on the internet lately, do you know about the MLP fandom" my one friend didn't know about it so I filled him in and he found the idea of bronies really funny (not in a bad way) then I told him that I "had watched the show and its not bad" and he seemed indifferent. I tested it out on another friend by asking him about his Gamertag (MyLittlePotato) and weather he gets mistaken for a brony, and when I explained what bronies were I got "that's like the gayest thing ever....*insert accidental reference to "Stop Fapping to Horses" here*" so I'm probably not going to tell him.

TL;DR: A good way to tell people is to test the waters first. Mention bronies from an outsider's standpoint and if they say something like "I think they're complete weirdos" then you don't have to tell them.

First time I wore mine to school, nobody didn't seem to take notice. I've never told anyone that "I AM a brony". I simple am.

It doesn't look like I'd get beat up, (My three weapons in my bag policy would stop that even if I did.) I told my best friends, and today I told some lesser friends, who didn't seem to care.

It really just depends on your own unique situation (what kind of environment your school has, how confident you are, how supportive your friends are, etc.) If you honestly feel it could create a bad situation, then there's no need to put yourself at potential risk. I know it sucks, and I wish we lived in a world where you didn't have to worry about being harassed because of liking a TV show (maybe if more people watched the show and took its message to heart, things would actually be different).

But if you want to take the leap, I'd suggest starting with your friends to test the water. There's no need to have an awkward sit down with them. Just start by wearing an MLP t-shirt, maybe a funny one like with Derpy or something, and wait for them to ask about it. Be casual about it, don't automatically feel you need to defend or explain yourself. Act as though it's as natural as could be. The bigger of a deal YOU make of it, the bigger of a deal THEY will make of it. You may even get them curious and get a few friends into your corner.

Now that I remember I only told one person about my bronydom, my very masculine cousin. When I told him he was like WTF!? Then he calmed down and I told him how awesome it is, showed him a few songs and unfortunately I didn't have any ep's saved at that time. :( ans so he had to go back to his home all the way across the country. The next time I will see him is Christmas.

Hold up a wrench and yell "I am a brony!" in the middle of a lot of people.

Well, it looks one of my friends at work knows i'm a brony and it Fine with it. Normally I don't tell others unless they ask if i heard or am one outta curious from the other person who wishes to know and he found out cause I am a Cartoon Artist. He didn't know I was a artist and he wanted to see my work. So, I gave him my DeviantArt Account Address and told him that "Get ready to see something different from me." The Next day, I go to work, feeling fine and all and got 20 minutes before i punch in the time card and went to find my friend and didn't see him in the Center kitchen. So I walk down to the north kitchen and he spots me and said to me. "Hey Bro...or should I say Brony?" That put a smile on my face and he was find with it. Actually, to be honest, I thought he be one too but he isn't. He's got nothing against bronies but he rather stick to Anime, instand.

I would tell someone I watched the show and enjoyed it - but only if they asked. Bringing it up out of nowhere makes you look obsessive, which is why a lot of these kinds of fandoms are ridiculed because of people doing that.

My friend/co-worker was talking about taking me to Dragon Con in Atlanta this fall, which sounds cool. I wondered aloud if they have brony conventions in Atlanta, and he inquired about that. I told him they're conventions for people who watch the show MLP: FIM, to which he said "Oh yeah, my roommate told me that there are a lot of grown men or something that watch that show." I raised my hand and he said, with genuine curiosity, "Why? What's good about it?" So I just stretched the truth a bit and said, "You know 2 Stupid Dogs, Dexter's Lab, and Powerpuff Girls? It's made by the same people (big stretch, but you CAN see some influences, and Faust did write for PPG and is married to the creator/director of these shows). It's pretty funny and endearing, and also really cute. So if you don't like cute things, it's probably not for you."

But he said "Oh I love really cute things. I have a soft spot for them."

So in summation, I may have planted the seed of ponies in his mind!

Awesome! The only friends I have are stereotypical *squee!*s. They'd never give ponies a chance. And as a result, I'm unable to be public about it.
