Arcana added, "That doesn't mean that's all I do, sometimes the melody comes first, like I think of that then the lyrics are written to flow with it."
"Ah think I get it," Taffy said, nodding, "Kinda like two cogs working together; don't matter which one ya put in first, they've still gotta mesh." "Ok then, how about inspiration? Do ya look at waterfalls? Walk through the park?" She said, grinning and gesturing around them. "Maybe sing about some of the lovely mares you've encountered?" She added, coyly.
"As a songwriter, I have certainly written many songs about pretty girls. Happy, sad, hopeful, longing and/or angry songs are a plenty when it comes to mares." Arcana said, "but as for me? My inspirations tend to find me."
Arcana's laugh was infectious, and soon enough, the were both guffawing, drawing some odd looks from ponies passing by. "So," Taffy said, wiping away a tear of laughter before batting her eyelashes, "do ya think ya could write a song about me?"
Taffy blushed. "Really? Ah was only kidding..." She'd never had a song written about her before. Or at least, not one not made up drunkenly on a saloon stage.
Arcana blushed when she realized what she admitted. "Well," she fumbled, "I have been tinkering and getting ideas. I just started and I..." she didn't even finished before she just shut up.
"Aw, Ah think it's very sweet of you." Taffy replied, smiling warmly. "Got anything Ah can hear?" She asked, sidling up closer to Arcana.
Arcana blushed at Taffy's closeness and smiled. "Unfortunately no," she began to say, "I don't feel right with having anypony listen to something unfinished. But you'll hear it soon, I can promise that." Arcana smiled back and slid a bit closer to Taffy.
Taffy pouted a little. "Ok, Ah suppose that's fair." She looked at Arcana with her head cocked slightly. "But ya gotta give me something now; can't go raisin' a girl's expectations and then dashin' them like that you know." She grinned crookedly and brushed some of Arcana's newly-curled mane away from her face with a hoof.
Noticing that her curls were starting to straighten, Arcana sighed. She looked at Taffy, blushing and slipped leg around Taffy and pulled her closer. Arcana started to hum an unknown melody to Taffy.
Taffy smiled contentedly as she leaned into Arcana; her fur was still soft and sweet-smelling from the spa. Resting her head on Arcana's shoulder, she closed her eyes and listened to the melody.
Arcana parted her lips for a richer sound to be heard. She came into her full voice as she sang the melody. As she sang, her horn started to glow and soft music played from the winds.
Taffy smiled, eyes still closed. She already knew Arcana was an excellent musician, the concert had proven that much; but this personal performance, being this close, added a whole other dimension.
Arcana finished her song smiling hoping that she made her companion happy with it. She pulled Taffy into a hug and then their faces touched. She blushed, but kept hugging her.
"That was..." Taffy opened her eyes and stared into Arcana's. "Beautiful," She breathed, smiling, and sinking into her embrace.
Arcana stared into Taffy's eyes, matching smile for smile, she opened her mouth and breathed, "not as much as you," to Taffy.
Taffy blushed at the compliment; she'd been called beautiful a few times, and whether or not it was true, it always made her feel special. She closed her eyes, pouted her lips softly, and moved her face closer to Arcana's until they were almost touching.
