Arcana continued laughing with Taffy. They continued walking until they reached the venue. "Well, here we are. I hope they find my music great," He said looking of into the distance himself.
"Ah, if it's anything like the rest of you, your music will be great." Taffy said, giving him a hug for luck. "Do you want me to help you prepare, or should I just go find a good watchin' spot?"
"Oh yeah, that reminds me," Arcana said, levitating a notepad to him as well as a quill. He dips the quill in ink and writes a quick note. He signs it and levitates the note to Taffy. "This will get you in for free, if there is any problems I'll get you in personally," he said. He returns the hug.
"Shiny." Taffy grabbed the note with her mouth, and put it in her bags. "Well, good luck!" She said brightly. "Er, not that you'll need it or anything..." She added somewhat ruefully.
Arcana smiled and said, "I'll see you soon." He turned to go backstage, but he then turned around and met her eyes. "Thank you," he said smiling and gives her a longer hug. He headed into the back room for warm ups.
Smiling to herself, Taffy made her way to the entrance and gave the gatepony her note. Upon entering, she noticed a bar, and made her way over. Now armed with a flagon of cider, she found herself a table; not too close to the stage, but close enough that she'd be able to see Arcana clearly.
The curtains opened to show the openers, local artists that paid money to get the crowd pumped. Most ponies are enjoying the music and dancing.
Taffy stayed at her table, sipping her cider and enjoying the music. She didn't really feel like dancing with the other ponies; not yet anyway.
After the two opening artists performed, the stage lights dim and a low hum started to play, walking out to the stage, Arcana Cantare started his song. The background music playing music designed only to accentuate the singer. He sings his heart out for the first number, a song about missing someone dearly. "I will be your Ghost of a Rose," the lyrics soared over the crowd. The song finished as ponies applaud excitedly to hear his music.
Taffy finished her drink and stomped along with the rest of the audience. She even threw in a whistle for good measure.
"Thank you very much, my name is Arcana Cantare," he said into the microphone, sounding as much as a showpony as he could. Looking around the audience he senses wanting for a dance. His horn glowed brightly as a lyrical guitar started to play and inviting dance tune. "There is a place in my heart the shadows call their home..." he started singing as the music started slow, but a fast and lively song suddenly sprang out from the dance. He started doing a small dance on the stage as he sings.
Making her way back over to the bar, Taffy gets caught in a crowd of dancing ponies, and decides to join in; she doesn't dance particularly well, but it's a real joyful dance.
Arcana finished his song, enjoying the feeling he gets while singing for ponies. As the ponies stomped, he smiled as he said, "would anypony like to sing with me?" A good portion of the crowd enthusiastically cheered for the idea. "You know the time to jump in," He said as he started the next tune. "I've been many places. I've traveled around the world. Always on the search for something new ..." He sang invitingly.
Taffy went back to table with another drink. She smiled, enjoying the music but not joining in; singing was not her forte.
The music died down as the crowd applauded loudly, whether it was for Arcana or for themselves. It didn't matter to Arcana for he was just happy to see them enjoy themselves because of his work. He immediately started the next song after the fanfare. "I thought of you the other day..." He started singing a somber tune.
As the music took a more solemn tone, the ponies settled down, many of them returning to their tables. "He's good isn't he?" whispered one mare, sitting down next to Taffy. "He sure is," She responded, softly.
"... I still remember you." Arcana finished his song and drank from his bottle of water. His eyes glowed showing the content in is heart. "I have one more song for you all tonight. You have been a wonderful audience. I would love to return here!" he gave his heart out to the audience. "We'll have a toast to tomorrow," he said as the song started to play. A very lively tune. as he plans to give all of his energy to the people. "Come on gather around, and join in the crowd..." He sang enthusiastically.
This change of tempo livened the audience up, and once more there was much dancing; this time Taffy had no inhibitions about joining in.
"...We'll drink a toast to tomorrow and to days long ago. And to days long ago. And to days long AAGOOOO!" He finished singing and immediately bowed to the audience thanking them for being wonderful.
