There are a lot of great cartoons out there, but many of them have either been forgotten or they never got the audience they deserved in the first place. Post recommendations for cartoons you think deserve more attention. If there are episodes on youtube or other such sites, post a link so we can check it out. I'll start: As Told By Ginger is among the best and most underrated cartoon series I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Taking a somewhat more realistic, down-to-earth approach than most cartoons, the characters are instantly relatable in that we either knew someone like them or were like them ourselves. Fans have been begging for a dvd release, but so far, Nickelodeon hasn't obliged and seemingly have no plans to do so. It truly is a shame.
This was my favorite episode. Rock N' Ride!!! Power Xtreme!!!!
Bump In The Night was one of the most unique shows to run on Saturday mornings back in the 90s. Boasting an excellent voice cast, an unapologetically goofy sense of humor and impressive Claymation as good as anything from Will Vinton, this one seriously needs a rerelease. A complete series dvd was briefly available in 2010, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. Fortunately, there are quite a few episodes on youtube so the series can still be seen. Like this one: Also check out the Christmas special (one of my personal faves that I watch every year):
How has nobody referenced these amazing and childhood gems of mine ? This is the TMNT I grew up with.
The Adventures Of Tintin During the year and a half or so we had HBO when I was a kid, I fell in love with this amazing series and watched it every chance I got, so of course, when Peter Jackson's film came out I loved it too. The whole series was released on dvd as a tie in to that film, so it should still be available and I highly recommend picking it up if you can find it.
Eh, it's late so I'm not reading what people posted before me. Here goes... Gravity Falls - if you haven't seen it yet, you should. Much like MLP in the sense that even though it's made for kids, it still has plenty of adult appeal. Humorous, fun characters, interesting plot and lots of intrigue. There's lots of old stuff that's good, but I assume everyone has already seen them, like Ed, Edd n Eddy, Fosters, etc. Daria is a pretty interesting cartoon, pretty much sums up the angst and nihilism of 90's teenage life. Funny too. In the more adult category, Archer. The greatest show ever made EVER. ....Also, the Boondocks. Watch them, watch them naow.
^ I cannot stress how brilliant Daria is: I'm still really fond of Courage the Cowardly Dog as well.
"embedding disabled by request". Stupid copyright trolls. IT'S JUST A CLIP, FFS! NOT EVEN 30 SECONDS! And the worst of it is, during the many long years Daria wasn't on DVD yet and could only be seen on TV in an edited, chopped-up version that nobody liked, they wouldn't let people share it back then either. Jerks.
My clip is better ...albeit equally as disabled >.>
^ very true. I was trying to find that clip where Trent calls Daria and Jane walks in, but settled for the speech because I knew it would be easy to find.
One of the best cartoons within the last 10 years, just hilarious
I will admit, this MAY just be pure nostalgia talking, but I adore the Moomins, and I think the 90's animated series is pretty good: You may or may not want to watch it from the beginning. The series starts rather clunkily IMO, and I just picked this particular episode because it captures a lot of the things I love about the universe. I was so terrified of the Groke as a kid. (Also, you'll have to excuse the voices. The English dub isn't all that great.) (EDIT: The movie is on YT in Swedish. Goodbye EP I'll just disappear in a cloud of childish glee okay?)
