"Um... I don't know..." Stardust pulled Charkie away from a large pothole, and under hanging, rusted metal. A loud roar stopped them in their tracks. "W-we should make camp... somewhere safer..." Stardust said.
"N-no, don't... I don't trust your amulet..." Stardust pleaded. They walked a little further, and found a small cave. They settled in, and talked. "So, um... y-you're a musician?"
Charlie nodded in the direction she thought Stardust was, "Yea! A umm a Music Prodigy to be exact." Charlie kept tapping her amulet trying to think, her ears twitched back and forth listening for anything. "Where are we? I don't like how hollow this place is."
"Sorry... I've never heard of you... I was judging by your Cutie Mark..." Stardust moved closer. "Um... we're in a cavern, so we can get some rest..."
Charlie tried not to look hurt, she knows she doesn't have a lot of fans but she would atleast like to meet one. "Well ok then." she laid down on the cold rock flooring. "I want that bed back and Krysis." Charlie closed her eyes and counted sheep.
"Sorry..." Stardust apologized sadly, and laid down near her. It was a freezing night, and the two mares had to huddle together, just to stay warm.
Charlie listened a few more minutes and finally fell asleep curled up against Stardust. She was shivering and she was scared, afraid of what might come in the night.
A large, carnivorous creature silently watched them sleep. Then it disappeared into the forest. There was something it had to do.
Charlie couldn't sleep that night, she kept hearing noises that would always startle her awake. Buy time the morning arrived, Charlie had maybe 2 hours of sleep and under her eyes were dark from the restless night. She nudged Stardust awake carefully still hoping it was her still.
Stardust jumped at the touch, "Charlie? What's wrong?" A loud shriek was sent reverberating throughout the cave walls. "Charlie... I-I'm scared..." Stardust said quietly. They held each other tightly, and neither got any sleep.
"I-it's ok... I've gotcha..." Stardust whimpered. It was storming now, and that would make it harder to hear if anything was coming.
The amulet began to glow, using a protective force field around them, the bubble created a comfortable temperature for them both and Charlie could her muscles relax.
Charlie laid her head down sudden drowsiness taking over. The shield will hold as long as Charlie keeps calm
"Ya I'm just really tired, this thing drains away energy." Charlie yawned and stretched her legs trying to stay awake.
"I don't like it when you use that thing... it's power scares me..." Stardust nuzzled her mane, and settled in next to her.
