"Yeah," Trevor said, wiping his hands on a cloth napkin. "Give me a second, I'll go grab him for you. Cute little bastard." Anya also looked curious, tilting her head. "How do you know if the creature is not... uh..." She frowned, looking at Basel for help. "How do you say it...?"
Trevor returned about five minutes later, holding something wrapped in a scarf. "He was napping," he commented. "So he's a little sleepy. " Pitch black eyes peered at them over the scarf, with fur the color of a burnt marshmallow and large floppy ears.
Basel's eyes widened and he reached out to take the scarf and creature. "Oh.. Hello there." He grinned, his whole face affectionate and warm. "This is a Berdling. I'm surprised. I've heard they're quite rare."
The Berdling made a noise almost a mix between a frog croak and a purr, tipping his head back to look up at Basel sleepily.
The Berdling's eyes drifted closed again and it purred under his touch. "He fell asleep in my lap on the way home," Trevor commented, resting his head on his hand. "As a matter of fact, I have something for all of you... Just little things." He cracked a sly smile. "Sorry. I don't have creatures for everyone. That's just Basel."
"Besides from the stuff for everyone, I got some tea, dried herbs... I don't know how good they are, though."
"Hopefully they'll be good," he agreed. After a moment, he spoke again. "So, uh, Anya. How are you enjoying the ship so far?" Anya glanced up, looking surprised at being addressed. "I... Hm. It is fine," she said idly. "Basel keeps having to draw my blood, so I do feel a little like..." She frowned, glancing over at Basel again for confirmation. "A juice cupboard, or... what is it?"
