For fantasy fans, I thought I would like to bring to attention a book series that I find truly excellent.

The Firebringer Trilogy by Merideth Ann Pierce, while difficult to find nowadays (despite a fairly recent reprint) is more than worth the trouble. From Wikipedia,

"The series follows Jan, prince of the Vale-dwelling Unicorns of the Ring. His people have been exiled from their sacred homeland by the poisonous wyverns for the last 400 years, and are awaiting the arrival of the Firebringer, a prophesied warrior who will bring the gift of fire to the tribe and lead them in the battle to reclaim their homeland."

My taste in reading largely lies in reference books and research papers, but I dearly love this fantasy series. And the reading of this series a few years back probably indirectly led to my love of FiM today, since most of the protagonists are unicorns. So... anypony else read the books?

If you are into fantasy books I would recommend E.E. Knight's Age of Fire series, only the first five books are out the sixth is to follow this December. The series follows three dragons through their lives in a place known as Hypat. Overall just an awsome series E.E. Knight truly brings everything to life in these books and even has a glossary for some to the words that he uses throughout the books.
