Attraction, but specifically fetishes, seem like a form of human imprinting. Something sparks us like to love it/someone, but often times, it's inexplicable. Carpe diem. ;D
Well for those that helped me, thanks! And those that started posting on this old thread again, I'm happy I could bring this thread back for you guys. I'm still writing the e-mail and haven't sent it... my parents are in the midst of a divorce/separation and my dad lives elsewhere, which may be why I'd prefer to tell him over my mom... As to the debate as to whether or not being gay is genetic, I must pose the question: Does it matter? Who cares if its genetic or purely psychological? That doesn't change that its not a choice, nor does it change that its not a bad thing and is perfectly normal/acceptable. It really doesn't matter. Personally I think its a mix of genetic and psychological, purely because its been observed that most gay men have a different brain stem structure then straight men, and when one identical twin is gay, the other tends to be gay as well, and most gays have a larger right side of the brain then heterosexual, so I personally think its at least partially genetic. But again. Its irrelevant and doesn't even matter whether its genetic or not. Also, there's some *squee!* that keeps telling me its a mental disorder-- yeah, it isn't that either.
@Chap Just injecting a bit of humor into the conversation. After all, We can't go along with our lives Perpetually wearing a demeanor of grim resolve, Can we now?
@greyOne Haha, yeah. Its good to have a lighthearted approach every now and then, especially towards idiots like the one described.
Well, anywho; Chap, best of luck to you in your endeavors, I on the other hand am probably going to call this a night. I'm tired, and sleep-deprived, And have to get all the way to California. Hmm. There's a 3 hours difference in time zone. So I still should have a good 6 hours before 10:00. 5 hours to get there. Some 15 minutes to find their address. Another hour to find a good hiding spot... Should be doable.
Brilliant! Best of luck chapien, I somehow think you will not need it. Remember to be exactly who you are.
Actually, not that much later. Currently on flight path to Coldarra, which takes some 10 minutes. In the mean time, remember to keep your cool. http://gig-mendecil.deviantart.com/art/Trixie-Found-a-Better-Car-than-Yours-269360267
Still writing the e-mail. Why is this taking so long to do? I wish I just knew what to say, hehe. Anyway, quick curious question. Any other homosexuals or bisexuals or pansexuals or <insert alternative sexuality here>-sexuals here on Everypony? There seem to be a lot of people actually posting in this thread but not many of them seem to actually bi/gay and are simply stating their opinion (which have been mostly positive, mind you!), but few actual gays here. I just want to get an idea that I'm not the only one or just how much of a minority I'm really part of, if that makes sense.
I'm pansexual myself, although I used to use the label "bisexual" until I heard of "pansexual." The term "bisexual" never fit me very well and it felt limiting; I love everybody regardless of gender and I don't care about the gender binary in a significant other.
Ah, cool! I used to think Pansexuals weren't all to common but I now know at least ten of them, heh. Though I tend to think a lot of bisexuals may actually be pan, if only they'd heard the term. Anyway, in regards to myself, I'm pretty sure I'm exclusively homosexual, but then, eh, stuff happens and I'm not sure if I'm bisexual or just gay, still figuring that bit out myself.
Self-discovery is a road that is long, winding and full of both beauty and fright; it is never-ending and ever-fulfilling. As we discover the correct paths, we are met with more paths and those paths lead to more questions. I'm glad you're taking the time to discover yourself and what makes up your being. Also: I agree with you; I think that many bisexuals are actually pansexuals but don't understand anything outside of the strict gender binary due to enculturation, lack of exposure to gender research or both.
Well, Our educational system (here in Canada) isn't helping much. And I have my doubts that's it's being Helpful south of my border as well.
Well, if you can believe it, it is the common position of cultural anthropologists that the United States has one of the most gender-divisive cultures in the whole world (including Canada). This means that the United States holds cultural beliefs about gender that are very black-and-white and very separate. American culture has two genders: male and female. Both gender roles are culturally separated and considered very different in our society; the male gender is the dominant one. This is more strictly divided than it is in any other culture in the world, although many other cultures also have a similar format. Also, I'm not condoning this position; I'm just saying that it is what it is. Research has shown that this is how American culture views genders and gender roles. I don't condone it and neither does the world of science; I really hope it changes for the better someday, but in order for that, education has to become better in America.
@Matty Such is the way of things, Until Human Nature does change. And we learn to see ourselves Through the eyes of those around us.
This takes alot to admit in the open. but like to think of myself as Pansexual as well. Love for me is blind and that's why i like the way it makes me feel.
