Night had fallen and the pony was still no closer to home. He finally decided to rest until morning, and suddenly saw the old house again as he walked around a rocky outcrop; it seemed much more inviting now, and he headed inside, willingly to sleep...
Thunder started shivering a bit. Was it that he was cold or he was starting to be a bit afraid. He knew bad things happen when ponies go to places like those.
Eris noticed Thunder shivering, and rolled over a bit, putting Thunder on the sofa in front of her, and wrapping her tail around him as she had before, snuggling him as much as she could, then turned back to the book. As the pony slept in the old house, he became strangely aware that he could see himself, sleeping. It was almost like a dream, but he had no way of waking. Try as he might, he could not get back to his own sleeping form, and all around him was total darkness; an absolute lack of time or matter. The void. He tried to scream, to call out and wake himself, but he had no lips, no body at all; all he could do was watch. Watch as his sleeping form slowly faded away, and watch as weeks later, another pony approached the house, seeking to investigate...
Thunder smiled at what she did and snuggled her more. He soon stopped shivering and just buried his face into her chest for a moment before turning to the bock. It was getting interesting now for him.
The image faded as the book ended. Eris smiled and nuzzled Thunder a bit. "So what did you think?" She asked, curious to see his perspective on the tale.
"Well... it was quite interesting." he said smiling as he nuzzled her a bit. "I didn't expected that last part." he added as he kissed her nose
Eris smiled. "Ah, well that's where the true horror lies; it's cyclical, see? Each time a new pony arrives to investigate the house, all the ponies that came before him have to watch that pony repeat their mistakes, unable to warn him, or turn and face the void, passing from existence forever."
"That... I would never want that to happen to any of us." he said as he gently cuddles her and kissed her nose. "But it was an interesting story." he said smiling
Eris smiled as he kissed her nose again. "You're not meant to want it to happen to you, silly; that's the point~" She giggled and held him close, nuzzling the side of his face a little.
Eris kissed the silly blushy pony a bit, then cuddled him some more. "Want to go to bed?" She asked, after a little while, stifling a yawn.
Eris rolled of the sofa and headed upstairs with Thunder, happily crawling into the bed and looking up at the stars. "So beautiful..." She said, quietly.
Thunder followed her to the room. I. There, he also got into the bed and laid her down on his chest as they looked to the stars. "They are..." he turned to her. "They want to be as beautiful as you~" he said nuzzling Eris.
Eris smiled, touched by his words. "That's so sweet~" She said, turning from the stars to look at Thunder, snuggling happily against his chest. "I love you so much, Thunder~"
Thunder smiled and cuddled her, nuzzling her a bit and snuggling her, gently putting the bed sheet above them. He kissed her nose and slowly closed his eyes, sleepy.
Eris continued to nuzzle his chest happily as his eyes closed, and after a little while she too drifted off into a peaceful sleep, resting comfortably in his hooves.
The next morning, Thunder was sleeping bellow a pile of pillows, but still holding Eris between his hooves. He had a small smile as he said over and over 'Eris~' as he slept
Eris awoke in the dark, but after shifting around a little, she realized she was under the sheets. She could feel Thunder's hooves cradling her, and smell his warm fur as she buried her face in his chest. She kissed it softly a few times, and smiled as she heard him calling her name in his sleep, then drifted of to sleep again, happy to stay there forever.
Thunder felt the kisses on his chest and smiled, gently caresing her mane aa she did that and then kept sleeping. After a few hours, he woke up and looked around after he took off the pillows from his face.
