Osiris had begun to grow impatient, waiting at the fort and taking night guard to see if she would show. One day he decided to slowly head down. *** She nodded. "Glue. That makes sense."
Her home was quiet and dark as he approached. * * * "Well... I'm out right now, so I need to get more."
He looked around nervously, unsure how to continue from here, waiting on the outskirts anxiously. *** "Then what do you have to do after this?"
As he waited, he would see a small window open and Dahlia's hand came out, waving him down." * * * "Gather some seeds for the mice. We're all good after that."
She looked out at him, leaning against the windowsill, her gaze forlorn. "What are you doing here?" she whispered. * * * He frowned for a moment, looking up again. "Hm... do you have your hook?"
"I came to find you," he said quietly. "We haven't met in awhile." *** She glanced back, frowning slightly. "Not this time. Sorry."
She frowned, shaking her head. "I'm being kept here," she said quietly. "I'm not allowed to leave. There's a guard outside my door." * * * "That's alright. Just stay down here, then. I won't be long."
She hesitated, looking over her shoulder for a moment before looking up at him, her brow furrowed. "I mean..." She paused, taking a deep breath before speaking. "I think I'm going to run away. Forever." * * * He climbed up the tree, quickly disappearing from view.
His eyes widened and his hushed voice sounded forced. "What? And go where?" *** She waited for him, looking around thoughtfully.
She hesitated, rubbing her arm. "I mean... I was thinking about going outside. My family doesn't go out there." * * * He returned about 10 minutes later, his bag bulkier than before.
He looked worried. "But.. We don't know anything about surviving outside. There are rogues out there." *** She was sitting on a stone, playing with Caly when he returned.
"You don't have to come with," she said, tilting her head. * * * Caly bit her hand playfully, squeaking.
"I can't live like this," she whispered, looking around nervously. "You know me better than anyone, Cy. Do you think I can live like this?" * * * He lifted the bag. "Got the sap."
She watched him, her brows furrowed. "What do you think?" * * * He nodded, slipping his hands in his pocket.
"I think it's dangerous," he said honestly. "But.. I don't know." *** She was ready to follow him, her head slightly tilted.
She watched him, saying nothing for a minute. "I'd be alright." * * * He started into the woods. "You can actually help me with this. How well do you know forest plants?"
