She shook her head. "It's silly. Anyways, you and that girl, Dahlia.. You guys seem like good friends." *** "Nothing, nothing. Where to next?"
"She's a house dweller. Recently joined up with us. Do you know Hyndesse House?" * * * She laughed lightly before leaning over and lightly kissing his cheek. "You're my number one. Always."
"She's from there. I don't know. She has a crazy story." He shook his head. "I can't imagine living in there." * * * "I want to show you the house that Vic helped me build."
She looked in direction of the house, frowning slightly. "I imagine it's equally strange living out here." *** "Alright. Let's go."
He laughed slightly, looking down at the ground as they approached his house. "Maybe. You should talk to her. She's pretty cool." * * * She led him a large oak tree with roots rising above the surface of the ground. "Here!"
He looked over at her. "Okay. Seriously, now. What's the matter?" * * * She nodded excitedly. "In the roots! Come here." She led him down a small path. Underneath one of the more separated roots was a small, nearly completely obscured hut.
He sighed, raising an eyebrow. "You were fine before. Come on. Tell me." * * * "Yeah. That's to keep out the squirrels. Come on in." Inside was a fairly basic setup, with a bed and a table with some chairs and a place for a fire. She looked at him expectantly.
She sighed, folding her arms. "I don't know what I'm supposed to say. I'm jealous. You formed a friendship with her so quickly and it took me such a long time." *** He nodded approvingly, looking around. "It's good."
He listened quietly, tilting his head. "You're... you're jealous?" he asked after a moment. "Of me and Dahlia?" * * * "Isn't it?" she gushed, looking over at him. "Are you going to stay tonight?"
She didn't look at him. "You two had nicknames first and everything." *** He frowned, looking back. "I suppose I could.."
He laughed incredulously, stopping fully to turn and look at her. "Nas... you're..." He sighed, his hands on his hips as he looked up at the sky. "You're special. It's easy for me to be like that with other people. But you? I want to take my time with you." * * * Her face fell, tilting her head. "You don't have to... I only have the one bed anyway, so you'd be stuck with me."
She looked surprised, almost awe struck. Her whole body relaxed and she brightened. She reached out, gently touching his arm. The action was warm and reassuring. "You're wonderful." *** "I'd like to," he said. "I can if you want me to."
He seemed very surprised, tensing and looking down at the contact with a raised eyebrow. Despite this, he didn't pull away. He leaned forward ever so slightly, raising one eyebrow, his eyes tracing her face. "And you're easy to please." * * * She brightened, coming over to him and wrapping her arms around his neck, looking up at him cheerfully. "Really?"
She grinned, pulling her hand away. "There's nothing wrong with that." *** He smiled down at her, reaching over and patting her head. "Sure."
"There is if your mood is this easily manipulated. Honestly, Nas, you'd think I just gave you an award." * * * She gave him that cheeky grin of hers, watching him affectionately. "I missed you."
She huffed, though her expression was playful. "Fine then. I'll never show emotions ever." *** "I missed you too," he said easily, his head tilting.
"Mm. It's the best way to be, I'm telling you." * * * She hesitated before looking up at him again. "Have you heard anything from my family?"
