"I like to be open with my friends." *** He frowned, looking thoughtful. "Not really.. Your family doesn't really like me."
He laughed as he opened the door to his house. "I'm your friend. Right." * * * She laughed sadly, pulling away and sitting on the bed. "Yeah... I guess that's true."
She nodded, following him in. Caly was at her feet. "Yep." *** "Maybe I could.. stop by? I don't know."
He gestured vaguely to the bed, kneeling by the fireplace. "Make yourself at home." * * * "Don't bother. You're right. They won't listen."
She looked around, her expression rather content before her gaze shifted to him. "Thank you for letting me stay a night." *** He frowned, sitting next to her. "I'm sorry."
His back was to her as he lit the fire, the flames casting shadows against the wall. "No problem. What's the plan? Are you going back tomorrow?" * * * She leaned against him instinctively. "It's... it's alright. I have you, right?"
She sat on the edge of the bed with a small sigh. "Yeah. I'm gonna try." *** "Of course. I'll visit more often."
His bed smelled like him. Pine, maybe? Pine and mint, maybe. He stood up, brushing his hands on his trousers as he set down the bag. "What do you mean try?" * * * "I don't want to be a burden," she said quietly, not looking up at him.
"They might still be upset," she said. "It'll probably be fine." *** He frowned. "You're not a burden."
"Well... you should sleep, regardless," he said, coming over to the side of the bed and sitting on the floor, his hands between his knees. "You've had a long day." * * * "Sometimes I am. But you must like that, I guess," she said with a small laugh. "You've been here long enough."
She leaned forward, her elbows on her knees and her head in her hand. "I feel bad for taking your bed." *** He rolled his eyes. "I don't think you're a burden."
He waved off her concerns, shaking his head. "Don't worry about it." * * * She huffed before looking up at him. "Thanks for not thinking I'm a burden."
She tilted her head slightly before getting up and placing her shoes by the door before getting into the bed. *** He grinned at her. "You're welcome."
He leaned his head back against the wall, closing his eyes. * * * She watched him before pulling away, scooting over to the other side of the bed. "Lie down?"
She closed her eyes as well, quickly falling asleep. *** He nodded, lying back and looking over at her.
He followed soon after. * * * She settled next to him, turning her head to look over at him. "There. Good?"
(Zoop!) Late in the night Nascha shifted, turning over in a fitful sleep. Suddenly, her eyes flew open, tears in them. She sat up, wiping them away. *** He nodded. "Good."
Victor was asleep next to her, but shifted blearily, still mostly asleep. “Nas...?” *** She smiled, closing her eyes for a moment. “You’re my favorite person.”
Her voice was shaky when she spoke. "It's nothing.. Go back to sleep." *** He flushed slightly, closing his eyes as well. "You're mine too."
He looked up at her, still mostly asleep before he stood up, mumbling as he sat on the edge of the bed. “Mmph... here. C’mere.” *** She fell silent after that, appreciating his proximity.
