She brightened, tilting her head at him. "I could. It might take some time." *** His frown deepened. "Why not?"
"I'm not that slow of a learner, Nas." * * * "Because you won't stop worrying about me! I'm an adult!"
"That's not what I'm saying," she said with a frown. "There's a lot to know." *** He crossed his arms. "Fine. I'll stay here."
He laughed, tilting his head. "Okay." * * * She nodded, setting the blanket on the bed and coming back to the door.
"You think that, but that's how you end up dying," he informed her. * * * Dahlia squinted but patted his cheek. "Don't make that face."
"Why would I lie? Trust me on this." * * * She looked at him for a moment before leaving, heading out the door.
"This morning counts," she said stubbornly. *** Osiris had continued to grow worried, eventually going out to look for her.
"Hardly. You got attacked by a cat." * * * He opened the door and Dahlia was there, her hand lifted to open the door. She was shivering from the cold, but had a bound bag that she was dragging. "Hey, Cy."
He laughed, beginning to clean up the dishes. "Right. Just in case you forgot." * * * She grinned cheekily. "Hi! I missed you. I'm sorry it took so long."
She leaned back, looking up at the ceiling. "Thank you for breakfast." *** He stepped back. "It's okay. I'm glad your back."
"Of course. I'm glad it worked." * * * She dropped the stuff on the counter, shivering. "I got a lot of stuff. You must be starving."
She grinned, watching him affectionately. "I'll start coming up with things so I can help you learn to read." *** He shrugged off his sweater, revealing his plain white shirt underneath and offering it to her. "Probably not as much as you."
"I appreciate it," he said, looking over to her. "How hard is reading?" * ** She waved it off playfully, her teeth chattering. "I'm fine. I'm really glad to see you. Want to make food with me?"
