He stretched, looking over at her. “I’m going to run a few errands and then come back. Okay?” *** She pulled him into an embrace, nestling her face in his neck.
He nodded, giving her a small wave before heading out. * * * Her face was cold, but she seemed to relax when he hugged her. "I love you," she said sleepily. "You're my favorite person."
She returned the wave before folding her hands patiently. *** His expression seemed a bit upset, but he didn't mention it. "You're my favorite person too.. Why don't you go lie down for a bit."
Victor knocked on her door that evening, rubbing the back of his neck. * * * "No, I don't think so either," Dahlia agreed, taking Osiris' hand. "But it was warm."
Nascha was at her work desk, fixing up a project. She glanced back. "Come in!" *** He took her to the bed. "Sit here.. I'm going to see what you got."
He opened the door, his bag hanging at his side. "Hey." * * * She frowned, tilting her head. "But I can just tell you."
"Hey," she said warmly, turning back to her project. "Come in." *** He laughed. "I know. But I'm gonna see what I can make."
"What are you doing?" he asked, setting down the bag. * * * She frowned, standing up again. "But I want to watch. Please?"
"I'm working on a head lamp. I think it'll work if I just make a few more adjustments." *** He sighed, relenting. "Okay, fine. You can watch."
He leaned over her shoulder, and she'd be able to smell the pine scent of the sap he was working with. "Interesting. How are you doing it?" * * * She beamed cheekily, standing up. "Thanks."
She looked up at him in surprise, flushing slightly before looking down again at her project. "Uh.. Well, I just have to attach a few more wires. I found this tiny lightbulb a bit ago, but I mostly just need to attach it to a piece to at least make it handheld." *** He nodded, going back to the kitchen to see what she got.
His laugh was low and quiet in her ear. “You’re a genius.” *** She followed him, opening the bag. Inside were lots of things. Dried beans, fruit, bits, baking supplies, oil containers spilled out and she looked up at him excitedly.
She looked up at him with a grin. "Not really. I just enjoy putting things together." *** He nodded slowly. "Okay.. I'll put something together."
“A genius,” he replied fondly, looking down at her. *** “I think I did well,” she said proudly. “I got a lot of stuff.”
He paused, his gaze flickering to her mouth for just a moment before he met her gaze again. “What are you thinking?” *** “I should bring you back some of the grape juice, Cy.”
