The next morning, Dahlia was in Osiris' arms, her face nestled in his chest. * * * Victor woke at dawn, only a few hours after they fell asleep, taking a deep breath as he realized someone's arms were around him. He looked down in bleary confusion and realized that she was sleeping next to him.
He was fast asleep, still keeping her close. Eventually he woke, yawning sleepily. *** She was still, sleeping soundly against him.
She murmured, her hand curling in his shirt gently. * * * He exhaled slowly, ignoring his frantically beating heart, before he slipped out of bed, standing up.
His eyes fluttered opened, and he looked down at her, relaxing. *** She shifted when he left, curling up.
She shifted sleepily, murmuring something noncommital. * * * He looked down for a moment before kissing her temple and pulling the sheets up to her shoulder.
She woke a few minutes later, blinking blearily and feeling the cold side of the bed. "Cy...?" * * * He went over to his stuff, pulling off his shirt.
She relaxed upon seeing him, resting her head on her arm. "Hey." * * * He glanced over, slipping his shirt over his head before returning to her side, cupping her head gently. "Shh. Go back to sleep."
"Hey," he said warmly, turning back to the food. "Hungry?" *** She looked up at him sleepily. "Are you going somewhere..?"
"A little," she said, standing up and pulling her blanket around her. "How are you?" * * * "I have to go back out," he told her gently.
"I'm okay," he said lowly. "I should go back and help again today." *** She frowned slightly. "Be careful, okay?"
Her entire face fell and she walked over to him, standing behind him and resting her head on his shoulder. “Can I come with?” *** He paused, giving her that cheeky smile. “For you? Always.”
She laughed, slipping her arms around his waist. “That doesn’t sound like me.” *** He kissed her forehead gently before standing up, letting go of her hand. “I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Why should I wear a coat if I’m just going to get wet anyway?” *** He headed to the door, his shoulders already slumped from the long day ahead.
